The team at Life Care Center of East Ridge, Tennessee, recently rallied around one of their own associates during a time of great need and grief.
“Everyone at Life Care Center of East Ridge has been a huge blessing to me from day one of working here,” said Melissa Correll, food services director. “The dream team has really outdone themselves and been true angels.”
Correll’s wife, Lynne, had been battling breast cancer that metastasized to her liver and bones. In early November, it spread to her brain.
“No surgery or treatment could help, so we had to make the hard decision to make her comfortable, and hospice was called in,” said Correll. “We were able to move to Life Care Center of East Ridge, and they took care of us in her last days.”
The team provided more than just nursing care – associates also provided emotional support, a card, snacks and a banner and balloons when Lynne moved in to a room at the facility.
“Our director of nursing, Jennie Anderson, went above and beyond and was here for me every minute, putting me at ease at any concerns that arose,” said Correll. “My executive director, Rob Hubbartt, has a heart that was truly made for serving and caring for people.”
Lynne passed away on Nov. 19, 2017.
“It has been the hardest thing I have ever been through, but my work family supports me and prays for me, and I am blessed to have them,” said Correll.
